Two products, one app, zero dollars

Most teams run a customer chat tool and a separate internal chat tool, and pay for both. rokochat is one workspace: the conversation with your customer and the conversation with your teammate about that customer live in the same place.

Here's what that means on a Tuesday afternoon:

  1. A visitor asks whether your plan covers multi-currency invoicing.

  2. You don't know. You share the thread into #sales — internally, in the same app.

  3. A teammate replies in the channel with the answer and a link.

  4. You reply to the visitor without ever leaving the tab.

No second tool. No copy-pasting a customer's question into Slack and their answer back out. No context lost in translation between two apps.

This is on the free plan. Team chat isn't the upsell.

Unlimited means unlimited

Two things we don't meter, on any plan including this one:

Messages. No cap, no counter, no overage email at 11pm because a launch went well. If you get 40 conversations this month or 4,000, the price is the same.

History. Older conversations move to cheaper cold storage, but nothing is ever deleted. A thread from your first week is searchable in your third year. When a customer says your colleague promised me X in January, you can find out whether they did.

Upgrading gets you scale and branding. It never gets you back something we took away.

What's capped on free

Short list, stated plainly:

  • 3 seats — a fourth person answering chat means Starter

  • 1 site — one domain, one widget

  • 5 GB file storage — messages are unlimited; attachments count

  • 60 voice minutes/month, 1:1 only

  • 3 canned responses

  • A "Powered by rokochat" badge on the widget

  • No export — CSV export starts at Starter

Not shipped anywhere yet, on free or paid: help centre, CSAT surveys, AI suggested replies, native Zapier, customer-facing click-to-call.

That's the complete trade. Nothing in a footnote.

When free is the right answer

You're pre-revenue. The badge doesn't matter when your visitors are cofounders and beta testers. Three seats covers a founder, an engineer, and a designer. Unlimited messages means a good launch day costs you nothing.

You're an agency proving a point. Put chat on a client's staging build before the support retainer is signed. Show them the inbox and the internal channels working. Move them to Starter the week the site goes live.

You're evaluating without committing. Install on staging, run it properly for a month, and decide. No credit card on file means no accidental renewal and no cancellation flow to survive.

When to upgrade

Starter — $7/mo. Removes the badge. Unlimited seats. 3 sites. 10 GB storage. 500 voice minutes. Unlimited canned responses. CSV export.

The trigger is usually one of three things: paying customers can now see the badge, you're hiring a fourth person who needs the inbox, or you've launched a second site.

Team — $19/mo. Your own widget subdomain, 10 sites, 100 GB, and 2,000 voice minutes with group huddles.

Agency — $49/mo. Full white-label, client sub-accounts, 50 sites, 500 GB.

Every paid tier has unlimited seats. The ladder climbs on sites and branding — never on headcount. Hiring your fifth agent doesn't change your bill, and it never will.

Going back down

Downgrade or cancel and you keep everything. All history, still searchable. The badge returns and you're back to 3 seats and 1 site, but nothing is deleted, held, or ransomed. Come back in two years and your archive is where you left it.

FAQ

Is it actually free, or a trial? Actually free. No expiry date, no credit card, no feature that switches off in a fortnight.

What are the hidden limits? None hidden. 3 seats, 1 site, 5 GB file storage, 3 canned responses, 60 voice minutes, badge on the widget. That's the list.

Is there a message cap? No. Unlimited on every plan, free included.

Do you delete chat history? No. Cold archive, never deletion — on free and paid alike.

Can I remove the badge without jumping to the $19 tier? Yes. Starter at $7/mo removes it and gives you unlimited seats at the same time.

Is internal team chat really on the free plan? Yes — channels, DMs, threads, reactions, plus 60 minutes of 1:1 voice a month.

Can I use the API on free? Yes. REST API and signed webhooks, no sales call required.

What happens if I downgrade? You keep all history. The badge comes back, you drop to 3 seats and 1 site. Nothing else changes.

How long does setup take? One line of script before </body>. Most people are taking their first chat inside five minutes.

Unlimited messages. History that stays. $0.

Put chat on your site this afternoon, keep your whole team in the same app, and pay us when the badge starts bothering you.
